Squads for CL T20 announced
Teams numbering 12 have named their preliminary squads for the inaugural Airtel Champions League Twenty20.110 of the 234 players nominated by the sides, have international cricket experience while representing their respective countries.
While Royal Challengers Bangalore,Wayamba and Victorian Bushrangers have 10 internationals players each in their sides where as New South Wales Blues and the Delhi Daredevils shall be capable of playing a team comprising of all international players.
Sussex & Trinidad & Tobago feature nine players with international repute, while the Cape Cobras and the Deccan Chargers of Hyderabad have eight, Otago have seven and the Diamond Eagles and Somerset have four apiece in their sides.
Lalit Modi, Chairman of the Champions League Twenty20 Governing Council, said.
“The announcement of the preliminary squads ensures the first Airtel Champions League Twenty20 will be a true contest between the best of the best, A congregation of the world’s best players, playing for the world’s best domestic teams, vying for the ultimate prize to be crowned Champions – we could not have asked for anything more”. he said
“I’m certain that cricket fans around the globe will be treated to truly amazing cricket at the inaugural Airtel CLT20 when the first ball is bowled on October 8 at Hyderabad.”
September 7 is the day for the Teams to scrutinize their team strengths to 15 for the tournament ahead.
As part of the rules of the game the players who are eligible for multiple teams will compete for their ‘home’ teams in the tournament, and according to the Airtel CLT20 regulations the ‘home’ team shall be compensated accordingly by the ‘away’ team taking the services of the ‘home’ team member.
There are only nine players eligible to play for multiple teams in the tournament.
